Student Life
-
What is the best time of year on campus? Definitely track season, January to May. It's a really good experience throwing right in the heart of campus. You get to see everything going on, receive support, and show people who don't even know that track and field or throwing is right in the middle of campus.
- What was it like coming to Morgan State from the West Coast? It was a big culture shock being from California. I think Morgan is really a big family-based, close-knit school. I had a good experience moving here.
- How has your support system been so far? Having my support system online has been great; I really reach out to them when I can. That's the biggest difference.
- What is it like being on the track team? The track team is very close-knit. We all support each other, even outside of track. We are friends outside of practices and meets, spending time together all day.
- What is your major and why did you choose it? I am a Health Education major with a concentration in Pre-Professional Physical Therapy. I originally was a Biology major at Morgan and found a bridge between medicine and sports. I knew I didn't want to give up sports after I finished running track. Its been amazing to have the new building this year as we now have our own space and don't have to go into science buildings.
- Have you used what you learned in class on the field? Do you have a favorite class? Yes, in my Therapeutic Modalities class during my sophomore year, I learned how our muscles work and how they recover. This translates onto the field, helping me achieve maximal performance.
- Describe your first day as a student at Morgan State. I was very scared because moving across the country. I didn't know too many people. I did have one person I knew from California, and she made it worth my while.
- If you had to give an incoming student advice, what would it be? I would say put yourself out there for sure. If you know you're normally a shy person, step outside the bubble, meet some new friends, and try new things you've never tried before. You're going to love it!

Pop Culture
- What is your favorite social media platform? Twitter and TikTok. I'm a funny girl; I'm a meme type of girl.
- Would you rather read the book or watch the movie? I'm a movie person; I really like the Fast & Furious series.
- What is your favorite TV show? BMF and Power.
- Do you have a favorite celebrity or athlete? Tiffany Pollard—she's definitely so funny!
- Who is your favorite music artist? I have Drake; I rock with Kendrick, but I'm a Drake girl down.
- What is your favorite childhood cartoon character? Chowder is my comfort show when I don't have anything else to watch.
- What is the most interesting place you've visited? New York is a really fast city with cool people to meet and a lot of great food.
- What is your favorite home-cooked meal? Pork chops and rice.
- What is your favorite breakfast cereal? Oatmeal or grits with bacon. I prefer sweet grits over spicy ones.
Sports
- When did you start running track and field? I started when I was younger. My brother, who I followed, wanted to do track and field, so I told my mom I wanted to as well. I grew to love my team and my coaches and stayed with it.
- Do you have any personal goals for this year? In my freshman year, I placed second in javelin, so I'm looking forward to being stronger and more knowledgeable about the events. Hopefully, I can come back and place in more events.
- If you didn't run track and field, what sport would you play? I always wanted to play softball, but that didn't work out well. I also played volleyball for six years, so I'd probably go back to volleyball.
- Which team do you look forward to competing against? Any team in the MEAC. We don't necessarily get to see the teams much at the beginning of the season until championships. Any team in the MEAC would be exciting to compete against.
- What do you love about Morgan? They keep it lively. College should be fun, and we shouldn't be stressed out all the time about schoolwork and athletics. Morgan does a great job of keeping us engaged with campus activities and faculty.
- Do you have any pregame superstitions or rituals? I pray. I really believe that prayer gets your mind right for anything you need to do. I trust God.
- What is your favorite part about playing your sport? I would say getting to compete against so many different people at different levels. You get to build yourself up and try new things.
- What is your favorite athletic memory? I did AAU track for four years and went to the Junior Olympics all four years. As a child, I got to experience traveling outside my state and competing with people from different states. That's what kept me going in the sport; I knew there were bigger opportunities outside California track.
- When you're not at practice, what could someone find you doing? At home. I'm a homebody.
- What do you look forward to during this upcoming season? Meeting my new teammates and people from new teams since I joined SAAC this year. I'm excited to plan events and attend others' events to support everyone else on campus.
- My teammates think I am... Supportive. I try my hardest to support my teammates, make sure they're okay, and check in on their mental and physical health. Being a student-athlete is a very taxing role with academic and schedule rigor, so having a support system is crucial.
Miscellaneous
- If you were a superhero, what would your superpower be? Captain America—mister do-it-all. He saves people's lives.

- If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? My height. I wish I were a little taller so I could get back into volleyball.
- Who do you admire the most? My parents and my grandparents. They are really hardworking people who always put others first. They have given back to the community, and my father and grandmother own a business in California. They always try their best to keep in contact with the community.
- What is your most prized possession? My Bible. I keep it with me when I'm traveling; it's tan with gold pages.

- After meeting Coach Hodge, what were your thoughts? When I first stepped on campus and saw my coach in Rawlings Cafe, I met my teammates. It was a great memory, and I felt so welcomed.
- What is your favorite track team memory at Morgan State? In my freshman year, we went to High Point University and I wasn't roomed with teammates I normally talked to. It was a really cool time meeting other teams and participating in fun activities during our spring break.
