FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. (Sept. 4, 2023) — Morgan State linebacker Erick Hunter has been named HBCU National Player of the Week by BOXTOROW.
Hunter, a junior from Capitol Heights, Md., recorded 11 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and 1.5 tackles for loss as the Bears defeated nationally ranked Richmond 17-10. His fourth quarter sack-fumble, which was recovered by the Bears, led to the Bears' go-ahead touchdown.
As a unit, Morgan was relentless as they accounted for 7.5 TFL, five sacks, three QB hurries, three fumble recoveries and an interception. The Bears also limited Richmond to converting just 3-of-12 third-downs.
