DOVER, Del. (Sept. 16, 2023)--The Morgan State women's cross country team placed two runners in the top five and three in the top 10 to help the Lady Bears place second in the season opener DSU Sting Invite on Friday afternoon.

Host Delaware State won the team title with 21 points. The Hornets had runners finish in the top two spots and six in the top 10. Delaware State's Ashley Lagat captured the individual title, finishing the DSU Farm Course 5k run in a time of 20:25.4.

Morgan State scored 58 points for second, while Goldey-Beacon (72) was third, the District of Columbia (101) finished fourth and Lincoln-Pa. rounded out the top five with 118 points.

Leading the way for the Lady Bears was
Abigail Fisher, who placed third in a time of 20:57.2.
Jalissa Emmens came in fourth, crossing the line in a time of 21:00.3.
Jessica Lamborn ran a time of 21:51.1 to place within the top 10, finishing ninth.

Morgan State will travel to Princess Anne, Md. on Saturday, Sept. 23 to compete in the Maryland Eastern Shore Invite.
