NORFOLK, Va. (May 10, 2023) -- Morgan State track & field completed day two of the 2023 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Dick Price Stadium on Norfolk State University's campus on Wednesday.
Junior Tia Jackson repeated as MEAC
champion by successfully defending her long jump title by capturing gold with a distance of 6.04 meters on her first attempt. Sophomore Terine Lambert won the gold medal in the women's shot put with a personal best toss of 13.94 meters, while teammate Johnelle Johnson won silver with a toss of 13.29 meters.

Terine also added a seventh place finish in the women's hammer throw with a personal best distance of 45.36 meters.
Senior long distance standout Rachel Field earned a silver medal in the women's 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:41.02, just behind Norfolk State's Mercyline Kimaiyo (11:08.22).
Freshman Makenzie Harris earned a podium appearance and secured six points for the Bears by taking home the bronze in the women's heptathlon with 4,501 points. Delaware State's Catherine Glenn won gold with 5,011 points, followed by Howard's Jasmyn Hunter with 4,547 points.
On the track, Yasmine George and Aleisha Robinson both qualified for the 400 meter dash. George placed fifth by crossing the tape with a time of 57.91, while Robinson finished eighth with a time of 56.98. The Bears duo will race at 2 p.m. on Thursday.
Jessica Lamborn recorded a time of 2:19.48 to secure her place in the 800 meter finals set for 2:30 p.m. tomorrow.
John Purvis secured the men's shot put title with a toss of 16.81 meters.
Junior Duane Kizer qualified for the 110m hurdles after finishing second in his heat with a time of 14.78 to secure the automatic qualifying spot. Kizer will race at 1:50 p.m. on Thursday.
Junior Justin Alston added four points for the men's side by placing fifth in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:04.63.
Morgan State leads the women's team standings after eight scored events, racking up 83 points. Howard has 70.50 points and Norfolk State (48.50 pts) and Delaware State (38.50 pts) are close behind.
In the men's team standings, 2022 defending champion Norfolk State has 67.50 points to 61.50 for Howard. North Carolina Central is in third with 56, and Delaware State has 42 points to sit in fourth. Morgan State is tied for sixth place with South Carolina State with 17 points apiece.
Howard's Eric Brown won the men's decathlon with 5,903 points through a total of 10 events. Coppin State's Amiri Goode won silver with 5,513 points, and Norfolk State's Rayquan Smith took the bronze with 4,810 points.
The Blue and Orange conclude MEAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship Competition with day three. Thursday's action will get underway at 10 a.m. with the women's pole vault and javelin, and the men's triple jump. The running events will kick off at 1 p.m. with the women's 4x100-meter relay.
