Johnna Hill (Pittsburgh, Pa.) finished fifth out of 154 bowlers at the USBC ISC Sectionals at Poelking Lanes. She rolled games of 187-219-191-235-176-218 for a 1,226 six-games series (204.33 average).

There were four USBC ISC Sectional tournaments held across the United States on Friday. A total of 649 of the best collegiate bowlers in the country competed in all four sectional tournaments. The top six highest scoring bowlers in each section earned the right to advance to the USBC Intercollegiate National Singles Championship on April 17 – April 22, 2023 at South Point Bowling Plaza in Las Vegas, Nevada. By finishing fifth in the Dayton, Ohio ISC Sectional Tournament, Hill punched her ticket to Las Vegas to compete for a USBC national singles title.

All of the Lady Bears competed in Dayton on Friday. A total of four Morgan State players finished in the top 30 out of the 154 collegiate competitors in the field.

Along with Hill,
Carrington Beaman finished 22
nd with a 1,139 total pinfall for a 189.33 average for six games.
La'Monique Berrios finished 23
rd with a 1,135 total pinfall for a 189.16 average for six games.
Natalia Miranda Vega finished 30th with a 1,125 total pinfall for a 187.5 average for six games.

"I was proud of how all of the ladies competed at ISC Sectionals. They competed hard and kept their poise throughout the 6 six-game set," said Morgan State head coach Tom Falbo. "Having four ladies finish in the top 30 is a strong statement about the talent we have across the board on this team. As for Johnna, I am thrilled for her. Her aggressive execution in the last game to seal her spot was very impressive. We all wish her luck and success at ISC Nationals!"

Hill's statement about how important her performance was speaks volumes to what she plans to accomplish, "It's been too long since I've felt like I am an unstoppable force. I can confidently say right now I feel like the force I was meant to be."

Hill will be among the 24 qualifiers heading to the USBC Intercollegiate National Singles Championship on April 17 – April 22, 2023 at South Point Bowling Plaza in Las Vegas, NV.

Next up for the Lady Bears will be a Dual Match with Saint Vincent College on Sunday, March 19
th at AMF Towson Lanes in Baltimore, MD. They will bowl two traditional game matches and one (1) five-game total pinfall Baker match.
