NORFOLK, Va. (November 6, 2023) – Morgan State quarterback Tahj Smith has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference.
Smith, a true freshman, had a huge day in his first start of the season as he helped lead the Bears to a 24-17 victory Saturday against Delaware State. He completed 6 of 17 passes for 131 yards and threw a pair of touchdowns without throwing an interception. He also gained 66 yards on the ground.
Morgan State (3-5, 2-1 MEAC) will look to post its third consecutive win when they travel to Orangeburg (S.C.) to take on the South Carolina State Bulldogs (4-5, 3-1) on Saturday, Nov. 11. Kickoff is slated for 12 p.m. at Oliver Dawson Stadium and will be carried live by ESPN+ and WEAA-88.9 FM.
