SMYRNA, Del (Oct. 28, 2023)--The 2023 cross country season came to an end on Saturday, as Morgan State competed in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championship at the Delaware State Outreach & Research Center, hosted by Delaware State University.

The Lady Bears placed fifth as a team, totaling 120 points. Norfolk State, which placed five runners in the top 10, captured the team title with 30 points. It was the Spartans' first title since 2021 and their fifth overall. Howard came in second with 49 points, while North Carolina Central (60) and host Delaware State (83) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

Mercyline Kimaiyo of Norfolk State claimed the individual title, crossing the line in a winning time of 18:24.9. Kimaiyo was named the meet's Outstanding Performer and Norfolk State head coach Kenneth Giles was named Outstanding Coach.

Morgan State was led by
Abigail Fisher, who completed the 6k race in a time of 20:03.0 to place 12
th. Fisher would earn All-MEAC honors with her performance.
Jessica Lamborn also earned a top 20 finish, as she ran a time of 20:41.0 to place 19
th.

Jalissa Emmens finished 26
th after running a time of 21:36.4 and
Crystal Coke was 29
th, completing the course in a time of 22:09.8 to finish in the top 30.
