Morgan's Burke, Miller and Hobbs Sweep MEAC Player of the Week Honors

NORFOLK, Va., Jan. 10, 2023 – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announced the Men's Basketball Players of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. Morgan State swept the weekly honors as senior guard Isaiah Burke was tabbed Player of the Week, senior guard Malik Miller of was announced as the Defensive Player of the Week, and Kamron Hobbs was named Rookie of the Week.

Burke (6-1, Sr., G, Bowie, Md.) shot a combined 55.6% from the floor (20-for-36) and 57.1% from behind the arc (12-for-21) in a pair of wins for the Bears this past weekend, averaging 29.0 points per game. He opened MEAC play on Saturday with 28 points against North Carolina Central, going 9-for-14 from the floor and 6-for-9 from distance, and on Monday, he dropped a career-high 30 points and hit six more 3-pointers in a win over South Carolina State.

Miller (6-4, Sr., G, Washington, D.C.) averaged 9.5 rebounds per game this past week, and of his 19 total rebounds, 14 were on the defensive end. Miller also averaged 2.5 blocks and 1.5 steals a contest. Against South Carolina State, he had 12 rebounds, four blocks and three steals (to go along with a game-high 32 points), and against North Carolina Central, he grabbed seven boards and blocked a shot.

Hobbs (5-10, R-So., G, Stockbridge, Ga.) averaged 14.0 points per game for the Bears in a pair of wins to open MEAC play – including an 18-point, five-rebound, five-assist effort against South Carolina State, going 7-for-13 from the floor and hitting four 3-pointers. He also scored in double figures against North Carolina Central, going for 10 points.

Morgan State will take on crosstown rival Coppin State (6-13, 1-1) on Saturday afternoon at Physical Education Complex Arena. Tip-off is slated for 4:00 p.m. (EST) and fans can catch the action live via coppinstatesports.com.
