Lady Bears Open Season Placing 11th At Spider Alumni Open

MECHANICSVILLE, Va. (Sept. 3, 2022)--Senior Rachel Field paced the Lady Bears' cross country team to an 11th-place finish in their season opener on Saturday at the Spider Alumni Open, hosted by Richmond at Polo Green Park. Field, who is coming off receiving All- Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference honors a year ago, finished the 4k race in a time of 15:16.3 to place 57 overall.  

Jalissa Emmens finished with a time of 16:07.8 to place 87th, while Asydiah Pray-Brown finished 90th, crossing the line in a time of 16:17.3. Jessica Lamborn finished 120th in a time of 17:57.3 and Yasmine George ran a time of 19:19.9 to place 132nd.

Virginia's Margot Appleton (13:23.4) and Georgetown's Grace Jensen (13:23.5) placed first and second, respectively, with Camryn Menninger of Virginia finishing in third (13:24.6). Virginia, which had five runners place in the top eight, captured the team title with 22 points. Georgetown took second with 50 points and host Richmond finished with 78 points to place third.
 
Morgan will return to competition on Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Delaware State Sting Invitational, hosted by Delaware State.
