Asante Selected to DC Touchdown Club Washington Metro College Football Player of the Week Honor Roll

BALTIMORE, Md. (Sept. 22, 2022) – Morgan State University sophomore Nana Asante (Burtonsville, Md.) was named to the DC Touchdown Club's Washington Metro College Football Player of the Week Honor Roll. Asante was one of seven players selected which included local college student-athletes or college student-athletes that went to high school in the DMV region.
 
Asante (Paint Branch HS) contributed to a dominant defensive performance that helped lead the Bears to a 24-9 victory over the Sacred Heart Pioneers last Saturday at Hughes Stadium. 

The outside linebacker made five tackles with a game-high 3 ½ tackles for loss to capture the first win of head coach Damon Wilson's tenure. The Bears also held the Pioneers to 2-for-14 on third down and 0-for-5 on fourth down.

University of Maryland's Beau Brade was named the DC Touchdown Club Washington Metro College Football Player of the Week as he made 15 tackles (seven solo), forced a fumble, broke up two passes and picked off one and returned it 13 yards as the Terps defeated the Mustangs, 34-27.

Morgan State returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 1 when the Bears play host to the Virginia-Lynchburg Dragons. Kick-off at Hughes Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m. and will be broadcast WEAA, 88.9 FM and streamed live by ESPN+.
