Morgan State Blanks Central State

Postgame Notes

BALTIMORE, Md. (Sept. 20, 2025)
-- Coming off their tough weekend at Toledo, the Bears bounced back by relying on their defense, recording six sacks and allowing just 15 rushing yards in a 27-0 shutout of the Central State Marauders at Hughes Stadium this afternoon.

Morgan State's Erick Hunter said after the game, "We came in with a plan and was able to execute it a little better this week. We still have things to work on within ourselves to knock out the kinks going into the MEAC soon."

The scoring for Morgan State started when Tyler Wilkins caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Kobe Mausau with 11:27 left in the first quarter. The extra point from Sahr Gbundema was no good. Morgan went up 6-0.

Not long after that, Jeremiah Wynn was ejected for targeting on the tackle with 10:20 left in the first quarter.

Mausau underthrew a deep pass that was intercepted by Dylan Purry at the Central 18 with seven minutes remaining in the first quarter, but the Morgan defense responded by forcing CSU into another three-and-out.

MSU's Justin Perry mishandled the punt, allowing Remello Eafen to recover it at the Morgan State 37-yard line. However, on the very next play, Central State quarterback Tison Hill was intercepted by Joshua Narh at the Morgan 17 with 5:27 remaining.

In the second quarter, Nahr recovered a punt from CSU's Abdoul Sawadogo that hit the backside of their own player and ran it 27 yards for a touchdown with 13:28 left. The extra point from Gbundema increased the Bears' advantage to 13-0.

Later on in the second quarter, Morgan State (1-3) running back Jason Collins Jr. ran it in from seven yards out for a touchdown. The extra point made it 20-0 in favor of the Bears with 3:47 left in the first half.

There wasn't much action in the third quarter as nobody scored for either side.

However, late in the fourth quarter, Jadon Carter picked off Chris Cotton and returned it to the CSU 37 with over 5:02 left in the game. Morgan made the Marauders pay with a one-yard plunge into the endzone from Randall Nauden. The extra point pushed the lead to 27-0 with 1:54 left.

Morgan State hits the road next week to face another SIAC opponent, Miles College, at the Circle City Classic in Indianapolis.
