Field Wins Delaware State Sting Invitational; Morgan Places Second

DOVER, Del. (Sept. 17, 2022)--The Lady Bears cross country team returned to competition on Saturday, following a week off, and placed second in the Delaware State Sting Invitational, hosted by Delaware State at the DSU Farm Course.
 
With a collective team time of 1:48:52, and an average time of 21:46, the Lady Bears finished with a total of 52 points. The host Hornets, who had six runners place in the top 10, captured the team title with 22 points. Lincoln (Pa.) placed third with 80 points, while Coppin State (96) and Maryland Eastern Shore (108), finished fourth and fifth, respectively to round out the team standings.
 
Morgan State's Rachel Field placed first, finishing the 5k run in a time of 19:42.6 to claim the individual title. Field's time set a personal-best for her on a 5k course. Following Field was Delaware State's Ashley Lagat with a time of 20:03.0. Maria Garcia Rabago also of Delaware State, ran a time of (20:29.4) to place third.
 
The Lady Bears' Asydiah Pray-Brown (21:04.5) placed sixth and Jalissa Emmens (21:16.9) placed seventh. Jessica Lamborn (23:11.7) and Yasmine George (23:36.5) came in 22nd and 24th, respectively.
 
Morgan will continue its season on Sept. 24 at the Maryland Eastern Shore Farm Run in Princess Anne, hosted by University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Start time is slated for 10a.m.
