Rhooms Earns MEAC Field Athlete Of The Week Honor

NORFOLK, Va. (April 20, 2022) —Morgan State senior Kobe-Jordan Rhooms was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men's Field Athlete of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference office announced today. 

Norfolk State junior Anthony Franklin was named MEAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week.

Rhooms (Sr., Montego Bay, Jamaica) ranks No. 1 in the MEAC and No. 29 in the nation in the triple jump after leaping 15.63 meters (51 feet, 3.5 inches) in winning the event this past weekend at the Norfolk State Invitational. He was also strong in the long jump, recording a mark of 6.82 meters (22 feet, 4.5 inches).

The Morgan State track and field teams will host its first outdoor meet of the season on Saturday, April 23 as the Bears take part in the annual Legacy Track Meet at Earl C. Banks Field at Hughes Stadium. Running events are slated to begin at 9:00 a.m., while field events start at 10:00 a.m.
