MSU Finishes Up Weekend at Norfolk State Invitational

NORFOLK, Va. (April 16, 2022) – The Morgan State men's track & field team notched solid performances across the board at the Norfolk State Invitational held at William "Dick" Price Stadium.

The Bears finished the weekend with three of event titles and eight top 5 finishes.

Kobe-Jordan Rhooms and Lamar Davis led the Bears in the field events. Rhooms captured first place in the triple jump with a season-best leap of 15:63 meters (51-03.50), while Davis notched the top mark of the day in the long jump, clearing a personal best 7:45 meters (24-05.50) on his first attempt. Rhooms also recorded a leap of 6:82 meters (22-04.50) to place seventh in the long jump.

The Bears' 4x100-meter relay team of Keon RantinAdrian HolleyAli Bowens and Lamar Davis captured the title by crossing the tape with a season-best time of 40.43.
 
Keon Rantin paced the Bears on the track by finishing fifth in the men's 100m with a  time of 10.59, finishing .02 seconds ahead of his teammate Adrian Holley (10.61). Rantin also turned in a sixth place performance in the 200m by clocking in with a time of 21.47.
  
Justin Alston finished fourth in the 3000m steeplechase by crossing the tape in 11:12.04. Jackson Waller placed fifth in the 5000m (16.46.03).

Devion Bryant turned in a fifth place performance in the 800m dash and Nasir Wallace placed sixth in the 1500m with a time of 4:13.81.
 
Malik Brown recorded a fourth place finish in the pole vault clearing 3:50m (11-05.75).
 
The 4x400-meter relay team of Duane Kizer, Keon Rantin, Kobe-Jordan Rhooms and Adrian Holley ran a 3:32.82, taking home a seventh place finish.

Next Up:
The Morgan State track and field teams will host its first outdoor meet of the season on Saturday, April 23 as the Bears take part in the annual Legacy Track Meet at Earl C. Banks Field at Hughes Stadium. Running events are slated to begin at 9:00 a.m., while field events start at 10:00 a.m.
