Bears Cap Trip to Virginia Beach at East Coast Invitational

Morgan finishes with four individual titles.

Final Results

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Morgan State University men's track & field team finished up its trip to Virginia Beach and the East Coast Invitational on Saturday, compiling strong performances across various event groups.
 
The Bears finished with four individual titles and 13 top-5 performances at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
 
In the field events, Malik Brown captured gold in the pole vault with a mark of 3.45m (11-3.75).  Lamar Davis cleared 7.36m (24-1.75) on his first attempt to win the long jump competition, while Derick Robinson finished in third-place with a leap of 7.17m (23-6.25). Joshua Belinga recorded a fifth-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 13.34m (43-9.25).
 
Zackery Dillon recorded a toss of 16.63m to place first in the shot put, while teammate John Purvis finished with a second with a toss of 56.32. Purvis also took third in the weight throw with a mark of 14.12m.
 
On the track, Adrian Holley finished sixth in the 60m finals in 7.00, and he placed seventh overall in the 200 meter finals clocking in with an IC4A qualifying time of 22.19. Emmanuel Ibeh raced to a fifth-place finish in the 400m finals with a time of 50.40, and he placed ninth in the 200m with a time of 22.32
 
Devion Bryant (1:59.00) and Brandon Jones (2:06.74) finished in third and fourth, respectively, in the 800m.
 
Nasir Wallace recorded a time of 4:35.87 to place fifth in the mile, while teammate Justin Alston finished eighth-place (4:45.81) overall. 
 
Duane Kizer took third-place in the 60m hurdles.
 
Up Next
The Bears will compete at the Norfolk State Invitational next weekend (Feb. 11-12) in Norfolk, Va.
