Hill Earns Second MEAC Rookie Bowler Of The Week Honor

NORFOLK, Va. (Nov. 15, 2022)--Morgan State freshman bowler Johnna Hill was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Rookie of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference office announced on Tuesday. It is the second weekly honor for Hill, who was also named on Oct. 18.

North Carolina A&T's Melanie Katen and Delaware State's Sydney Reardon were selected as MEAC Co-Bowlers of the Week.

"Johnna's performance on Sunday was phenomenal. To average 24.3 that day on a tough pattern speaks loudly to her level of play," said Morgan State head coach Tom Falbo. "Her focus is to contribute to the team on and off the lanes and I'm thrilled to see her early season success. Congratulations to her for her second MEAC Rookie of the Week honor."

A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Hill averaged 20.74 pins per frame at the MEAC #1 meet this past weekend to help the Lady Bears go 4-4 for the tournament. Hill had an 88.9 fill percentage and averaged 9.17 pins on first ball, while converting 82.1 percent of her spares for the weekend. In 24 frames on Saturday, she recorded 18 strikes.

Getting the MEAC Rookie of the Week honor makes me feel incredibly motivated and ready to go perform on the lanes better and better every time," said Hill. "My teammates and coaches supporting me played a big role in me receiving the award. They have been so supportive."

"When I step on the lanes I always put out my best performance for our team. Being able to help bring in any awards or accomplishments for the team is an amazing feeling."
