Women’s Bowling Picked Sixth In MEAC Preseason Poll

NORFOLK, Va. (Sept. 23, 2021)-The Morgan State bowling team was picked to finish sixth in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Preseason Bowling Poll released on Thursday. The poll was voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.
 
North Carolina A&T State was picked to win the league title after receiving 137 points and 13 first-place votes. Delaware State (four votes) received 119 points to rank second, while Maryland Eastern Shore earned 106 points for third. Monmouth (1) had 105 points for fourth-place and the University of Alabama-Birmingham was picked fifth with 85 points.
 
Morgan State received 46 points for sixth, while Coppin State and Norfolk State were tied for seventh with 42 points each and Howard was picked ninth with a total of 38 points.
 
Melanie Katen of North Carolina A&T State was named as MEAC Preseason Bowler of the Year.
 
The Lady Bears open the 2021-22 season on the road in the MOTIV Penguin Classic (Oct. 15-17), hosted by Youngstown State. The annual MSU James Brown Invitational will take place Feb. 11-13, 2022 at the AMF Country Club Lanes in Baltimore, Md. The MEAC Championship will be held on March 25-27 in Chesapeake, Va.
