Men’s Indoor Track & Field Gets Off to Solid Start in Annapolis

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (December 4, 2021) -- Morgan State Men's Indoor Track & Field Team got off to a good start on Saturday, at the Navy Invitational I, as the Bears took to the oval for the first time this season.

Morgan finished the day with 10 top-5 finishes and placed first in four events at Wesley A. Brown Field House. The Bears also finished the day with five IC4A qualifiers.
 
How it Happened 
 
    ● Adrian Holley placed third in the 60m dash with a personal best and IC4A qualifying mark of 6.92, followed by a second place finish in the 200m dash posting a IC4A qualifying time of 22.02.
 
    ● Keon Rantin won the 400m dash with an IC4A qualifying time of 48.17.
 
    ● Freshman Devion Bryant placed fourth in the 800m run by crossing the tape with a time of 1:58.23.
 
    ● The 4x400 meter relay team of Tarique Gooden, Devion Bryant, Ali Bowens and Keon Rantin) won the event with a time of 3:20:43.
 
    ● In the high jump, Kobe-Jordan Rhooms came in second place with a leap of 2.03m (6-08.00). The senior also established a new Wesley Brown Field House Record in the triple jump with a personal best and MSU all-time top mark of 15.91m (52-02.50) -- it's also currently the top mark in the NCAA and the MEAC. 
 
    ● Derick Robinson earned gold in the long jump with an IC4A qualifying lead of 7.34m (24-01.00). HIs mark is currently ranked among the top 10 in the NCAA and the top mark in the MEAC.
 
    ● Newcomer Zachery Dillon won gold in the shot put with a IC4A qualifying toss of 16.39 (53-09.25), while teammate John Purvis placed third with a mark of 15.10m (49-06.50).

Next Up 
After over a month off, the Bears will return to action at the HBCU Showcase on Jan. 15 in Manhattan, N.Y.
