Lady Bears To Host Sixth Annual James Brown Bowling Invitational

BALTIMORE, Md. (Feb. 10, 2020) --The Morgan State bowling team returns to action this weekend when it hosts the sixth annual James Brown Bowling Invitational this Friday, Feb. 14-Sunday, Feb. 16 at the AMF Towson Lanes in Towson, Md.
  
The event gets underway on Friday, Feb. 14 at 9:15 a.m. with the introduction of teams and the national anthem. The five-game Baker total pinfall matches will kick-off the competition at 10 a.m.
 
Saturday's schedule kicks off with the recognition of seniors at 9 a.m. Morgan State's lone senior Diamond Hunter, who will be competing in her final home contest, will also be honored at that time. The Traditional game matches get underway at 10 a.m.
 
The tournament concludes on Sunday with the best-of-seven Baker match positioning rounds (bracket style) beginning at 8:30 a.m. The awards ceremony will follow the conclusion of the tournament.  
  
This year's field features 16 teams, including Morgan State. Five of those programs are currently ranked in the top-25 in The National Tenpin Coaches Association Poll, which was released on Wednesday, Feb. 5. Those teams making their way to Baltimore area are: Bloomfield, Bowie State, Chestnut Hill, #10 Duquesne, Felician, Kutztown, Mount Aloysius, #14 Mount St. Mary's, #13 Sacred Heart, Virginia State and #24 Wilmington, as well as Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference foes Coppin State, #18 Delaware State, Howard and Norfolk State.
 
Formerly known as the MSU Bowling Invitational Tournament, it was renamed the James Brown Invitational in 2012 after Morgan State's first head bowling coach. The tournament had a four-year hiatus, until it returned in 2017. This will be the 14th all-time bowling tournament hosted by the program.
 
From 2007-2013, the MSU Bowling Invitational/James Brown Invitational was considered to be the largest collegiate bowling tournament in the country.
