LANDOVER, Md. (Feb. 29, 2020)-The Morgan State women's track and field team scored 22 points on Friday to complete Day 2 of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Indoor Track & Field Championship in fourth place with a total of 25 points.

The Lady Bears, who entered the day in a tie for eighth with three points, moved up four spots with its performance today, including second-place finishes by the distance medley team and
Diamond Moore in the pentathlon.

Bethune-Cookman leads after two days with 45 points, while defending champion North Carolina A&T is in second with 39 points. Norfolk State sits in third with 31 points and Maryland Eastern Shore rounds out the top five just a point behind Maryland Eastern Shore with 24.

The Lady Bears' distance medley team of
Valencia McDowell,
Kimani Davis,
Michelle Kamara and
Jalissa Emmens ran a time of 12:22.85 to place second in the event. The squad would earn All-MEAC second team honors.

Diamond Moore totalled a career-best 3,376 points in the pentathlon to place second and earned All-MEAC second team honors. Moore came in second in three of the five pentathlon events, setting personal bests in the 60 meter hurdles (9.04), high jump (1.67m) and 800 meter run (2:33.46).

Miazziah Rose finished tied for fourth in the high jump with a height of 5-03.75, while teammate
Diamond Moore just missed on an eighth-place finish, as she came in ninth with a mark of 5-01.75.

In the weight throw,
Jannah Sharpe had a throw of 54-07.50 to take seventh. Naomi Umrani-Sanders had a throw of 46-08.75 to finish 14
th.

Alliayah Ottley advanced to Saturday's final in the 60 meter hurdles after running a time of 8.86 seconds to place sixth in the preliminary round.

Dinedye Denis finished 12
th in the preliminaries of the 400 meter dash with a time of 57.85 seconds.
