Rantin Leads Bears at Liberty Kickoff

LYNCHBURG, Va. (January 25) -- The Morgan State men's indoor track & field teams combined for six Top-10 finishes on the Liberty Kickoff held at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex. 
 
Junior sprinter Keon Rantin recorded the Bears' top marks in both the 60 meters and 200 meters finals. 
 
The Philadelphia native was edged out at the tape by Liberty's Christian Lyon (6.75) in the 60 meters final, but not before turning in an IC4A qualifying time of 6.79. Sophomore teammate Jordan Cofield placed fourth with a time of 6.83.
 
Rantin followed it up with a third place finish in the 200 meter finals with an IC4A qualifying time of 21.27 (personal best) -- it is currently the second fastest time recorded this season in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. 
 
Junior Kobe-Jordan Rhooms took fifth in the high jump with a leap of 2.05* (6'8.75").
 
In the relays, Morgan State's quartet consisting of Keon Rantin, Kobe-Jordan Rhooms, Ra'Mel Manley and Taylor Blake placed seventh in the 4x400m relay finals with a time of 3:20.46.

The Bears' 4x800m relay team of Joshua Okonofua, Joseph Okonofua, Keegan Gould, Justin Alston recorded a time of 8:20.61.

Up Next
The Morgan State Bears will travel to Annapolis next Saturday (Feb. 1) to compete at the Navy Invitational II. Events are tentatively scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Wesley A. Brown Field House.
