Men’s Track Conclude Competition at Gamecocks Opener

COLUMBIA, S.C. (January 19, 2020) -- The Morgan State men's track and field team had nine Top-10 finishes and earned one podium finish at the Gamecock Opener.

Junior Kobe-Jordan Rhooms took home second-place honors in the men's long jump with a leap of 7.02 meters (23'0.5") and also placed sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.98 meters (6'6") along with sophomore teammate Lamar Davis.

Senior Daenah Pressley also placed sixth in the triple jump by recording a distance of 13.50 meters.

Freshman Brian Duperval finished with a 10th place toss in the shot put with a distance of 13.15 meters.

On the track, sophomore Jordan Cofield placed seventh in the 60 meter dash final with a time of 6.84. Freshman newcomer Almighty Williamson turned in top-10 finishes in the 60 meter hurdles where he placed seventh with a time of 8.38.

Junior speedster Keon Rantin raced to a fifth place finish in the 200 meter dash crossing the line with a personal best time of 21.28 (T-No. 16 in the nation), while sophomore Brandon James added a sixth place finish with a 21.34.

The Bears' 4X400 relay team (Joshua Okonofua, Joseph Okonofua, Almighty Williamson, Jacob Nixon) finished in 15th place with a time of 3:30.37.
