MSU Track & Field Begins Action at East Preliminary Round

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (May 24, 2019) – Morgan State track & field continues postseason action at the NCAA East Preliminary Round at the Hodges Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida.

On Thursday's first day of action, sophomore sprinter Keon Rantin fell short of advancing to Friday's semifinals of the 400-meter dash.

Rantin finished 7^thin heat number 4 of the 400-meter dash and recorded a time of 47.01. North Carolina A&T's Trevor Stewart advanced with a time of 44.55, the fastest time of the First Round.

Rantin's top time this season was a 46.78 at the MEAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Rantin returns to action today (Friday) when he prepares to compete in the 200-meter dash. The event is scheduled to begin at 7:55 p.m. Rantin's top time this season was 20.73 at the Morgan State Legacy Track & Field Meet.

Rantin will be joined by freshman teammate Brandon James in the 200-meter dash. James is the No. 33^rdqualifier in the NCAA East Region in the 200-meter race. He set his top time this season of 20.73 in the Morgan State Legacy Track & Field Meet.

The NCAA East Preliminary Round competition concludes on Saturday evening, with action in the field and on the track.

Qualifying teams and individuals advance to the 2019 NCAA Division Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas, from June 5-8.
