Bears Open Outdoor Track & Field Season At 49er Classic

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (March 16, 2019) - The Morgan State men's outdoor track and field team opened the 2019 outdoor season as they took part in the 49er Classic this weekend at the Irwin Belk Track & Field Center in Charlotte, N.C. The men's track and field team secured four individual top-5 and five top-10 finishes.

Keon Rantin paced the Bears on the track as the junior tied for fifth place in the 100m dash with a personal best time of 10.68. The sophomore also placed fifth in the 200m with a time of 21.47.

The men's 4x400m relay team consisting of Adewunmi Oloyede, Brandon James, Ra'Mel Manley and Keon Rantin ran the second fastest time in the MEAC this season, winning the event in 3:15.03.

The Bears' 4x100m team also fared well, as the quartet of Kobe-Jordan Rhooms, Caniggia Harriott, Brandon James and Keon Rantin finished fourth at 41.52.

Kobe-Jordan Rhooms just missed winning the high jump and the triple jump as he finished second in both with leaps at 1.98m and 15.06m (No. 11 in nation), respectively.

In the shot put, Kurt Goodlitt finished 15^thwith a throw of 14.51m, and Joshua Smith placed 14^thin the discus with a mark of 43.80m.
