Men's Indoor Track and Field Places Fourth at MEAC Championships

LANDOVER, Md. (February 17, 2018) -- The Morgan State men's track & field team finished fourth at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Indoor Championships on Saturday at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex.

MSU finished fourth out of 11 teams with 41 points. North Carolina A&T racked up a meet-record 191 points to claim the crown, 50 points more than second-place Bethune-Cookman.

With the team title, North Carolina A&T becomes the first MEAC program ever to sweep the men's and women's indoor titles three seasons in a row.

MSU was led on the track by senior sprinter Keon Rantin who placed second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.56seconds, and was sixth in the 400 meter dash by clocking in with a 48.47. Freshman Brandon James finished in seventh place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.14.

In the shot put, senior Vikarie Elliott and Kurt Goodlitt finished fourth (15.57m) and fifth place (15.37m), respectively. Goodlitt also placed seventh in the weight throw with a personal best throw of 15.28 meters.

Sophomore Kobe-Jordan Rhooms finished fourth in the triple jump (14.71m), fifth in the high jump (2.04m), and was sixth in the long jump (6.88m).

The Bears 4x400 meter relay team comprised of Brandon James, Keon Rantin, Ra'Mel Manley and Adewunmi Oloyede recorded a time of 3:18.54 and finished fourth.

The top three individuals in each event and the top three relay teams earned All-MEAC honors.

Morgan State's Keon Rantin finished the weekend as an All-MEAC Second Team selections (200m).
