Morgan State Participates in 3rd Annual Greater Baltimore Basketball Media Day

BALTIMORE, Md. (Oct. 8, 2019) -- Morgan State University men's basketball head coach Kevin Broadus women's basketball head coach Ed Davis Jr. took part in the third annual Greater Baltimore Basketball Media Day on Tuesday afternoon. MSU seniors Stanley Davis and Chelsea Mitchell were also on hand to represent the men's and women's programs.

The event was hosted by Coppin State and held on campus at the Physical Education Complex. 

All seven of the men's and women's NCAA Division I institutions located within an hour's drive of Coppin State were in attendance, including: Morgan State, Towson, UMBC, Loyola Maryland, Mount St. Mary's, Navy and Towson.

The Greater Baltimore Basketball Media Day was hosted by Rob Long from CBS Radio. The event began with a welcome, followed by brief introductions of each of the head coaches for a few words about their programs and concludes with a discussion on the state of local basketball.

Coaches and student-athletes in attendance also rotated through TV one-on-ones, along with print and radio interviews.

The Morgan State men's team begins the 2019-20 campaign on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m., when they host Central Penn College, followed by a road trip to take on Temple on Nov. 9 at 2 p.m.

A year ago the Bears finished 9-21 overall and went 4-12 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). Morgan State's season would come to an end in the opening round of the MEAC Tournament, following an 81-71 loss to 7th-seeded Coppin State.

The Lady Bears also open up the season on Tuesday, Nov. 5, when they travel to square-off at Marquette. The Lady Bears home-opener will be on Friday, Nov. 8 when they host Notre Dame of Maryland. Tip-off is at 5:30  p.m. inside Hill Field House. 

Morgan State finished the 2018-19 campaign with a 10-21 overall record, 8-8 in the MEAC, which was tied for fifth. The Lady Bears closed out the 2018-19 home slate with a 6-7 mark and fell to 11th-seeded Coppin State, 50-48 in the first round of the MEAC Tournament.
