PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (Sept. 23, 2018)-The Morgan State women's cross country team returned to action on Saturday as they competed in the Maryland Eastern Shore Cross Country Invite held at the The Hawks XC Pavilion.
 
The 5k race was Morgan State's first event since competing at the DSU Hornet Invitational in Smyrna, Del. on Sept. 8. Last week's UMES Cappy Anderson Invitational scheduled for Sept. 15 was canceled due to Hurricane Florence.
 
The Lady Bears would finish second with a total of 80 points. Seton Hall came in first with 16 points, while host Maryland Eastern Shore placed third with 85 points. Seton Hall's Emma Newgarden would capture the individual title in a time of 18:43.50.
 
Morgan State was paced by Infinnatie Rowe, who ran under 20 minutes, finishing the course in a time of 19:53.20. Rachel Field finished in 12th with a time of 20:38.30. Zakyrah Haynie also placed in the top 20, running a time of 21:26.40 to finish 16th.
 
The Lady Bears will have their final competition of the regular season on Friday, Oct. 12 when they travel to Dover, Del. to take part in the DSU Alumni Invitational.
