SMYRA, Del. (Oct. 12, 2018)-Nearly three weeks since their last competition, the Lady Bears cross country team returned to action on Friday and finished in first at the DSU Alumni Run Invitational, held at the Delaware Outreach & Research Center.
Morgan State, which scored 30 points to win the meet, placed four runners in the top 10, four of which finished in the top five.
Infinnatie Rowe was Morgan State's top runner, finishing the 5k race under 20 minutes at 19:44.40.
Zakyrah Haynie came in third, running a time of 20:10.80, while
Rachel Field placed fifth in a time of 20:36.50.
Maryland Eastern Shore (MDES) took second with 35 points and Mercy Chemutai of MDES won the individual title in a time of 19:14.10. Coppin State finished with 86 points to place third, while host Delaware State (99) and Wesley (119) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
The Lady Bears will be off Saturday, Oct. 27 when they compete in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Cross Country championships in Smyrna, Del.
