Rodriguez Named MEAC Pitcher Of The Week

NORFOLK, Va. (March 2, 2026)--Morgan State junior pitcher Serena Rodriguez was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday. It's the first weekly honor this season for Rodriguez.

Norfolk State's Maddy Morris was named MEAC Player of the Week, while teammate Peyton Moran was named MEAC Rookie of the Week.

A native of Simi Valley, Calif., Rodriguez appeared in all five games at the DeMarini Tiger Clash over the weekend hosted by Towson. She totaled five strikeouts in 14.0 innings of work. Rodriguez struck out three batters in a complete game loss to the Tigers (2/27) on Day 1 of the tournament. She then tossed another two strikeouts against Towson in the finale (3/1).

Morgan State will stay close to home for the second week in a row when it travels to nearby University of Maryland Baltimore County to compete in the UMBC Round Robin #2 (March 6-8) at The Diamond at UMBC.

The Lady Bears begin the weekend playing one game when they face Albany (NY) on Friday, March 6 at 1:30 p.m. Morgan State and the Great Danes will square off again on Saturday morning at 10 a.m., before battling the host Retrievers at 3 p.m. The Lady Bears will close out the tournament on Sunday, March 7 against Syracuse at 10 a.m., followed by a 12:30 p.m. finale against UMBC.
