Morgan State Men’s Basketball Positioned for MEAC Title Run as No. 2 Seed

Bears set to face No. 7 Delaware State on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

BALTIMORE, Md. (March 6, 2026) -- The Morgan State University men's basketball team has earned the No. 2 seed in the 2026 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men's Basketball Tournament after winning four of its final five games to secure second place in the conference standings.

The seeding marks the Bears' highest since 2010, when Morgan State entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed with a 14–1 conference record in the event held in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. That season, Morgan State went on to claim its second consecutive NCAA Tournament berth, defeating South Carolina State University 68–61 in the MEAC championship game.

Morgan State will open tournament play against No. 7 Delaware State University on Wednesday, March 11, at the Norfolk Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m., and the game will stream live on ESPN+.

If the Bears advance, they will face the winner between No. 3 North Carolina Central University (8–6 MEAC) and No. 6 University of Maryland Eastern Shore (5–9 MEAC) in the semifinals on Friday, March 13 at 8 p.m.

Morgan State finished the regular season 14–15 overall and 10–4 in conference play, marking the program's best MEAC record since the 2016–17 season, when the Bears went 11–5 in league play.

Howard University captured the 2026 MEAC regular-season title with an 11–3 conference record and a 20–10 overall mark, earning the tournament's No. 1 seed.

The MEAC Basketball Tournament is a single-elimination event featuring both the conference's men's and women's teams. Quarterfinal and semifinal games will stream live on ESPN+.

The men's championship game will tip off at 1 p.m. on ESPN2, followed by the women's championship game at 4 p.m. on ESPNews.
