Lady Bears Defeat Caldwell For Third Straight Victory

Morgan State ties school record with third consecutive win.

CALDWELL, N.J. (March 18, 2026)--The Lady Bears acrobatics & tumbling team hit the road on Wednesday to face Caldwell University. Morgan State finished the meet with a final score of 239.725-211.560, ultimately defeating the Lady Cougars and extending its winning streak to a season-best three straight.
 
The three-meet winning streak ties the school record for consecutive victories set by the 2025 squad, who finished the season winning its last three contests.
Morgan State improved to 3-2 on the season, while Caldwell dropped to 1-3 and has lost three in a row.
 
Morgan State came out strong, setting the tone early by taking the lead in the Compulsory event with an impressive score of 35.600. The team continued to build momentum, posting a meet-high 9.750 in the Pyramid heat—further showcasing their consistency and dominance in the event this season.
 
The Lady Bears carried that energy into the Acro event, securing the win with a total score of 23.550. In Acro Heat 3 (7 Element), the group of Lauren Perkins, Janae Harris, Marisa Jett, Rayla Buckner, and Taylor Green delivered a standout performance, earning an 8.550.
 
In the Pyramid, the Lady Bears continued to set the tone for the rest of the meet. Morgan State led the event, earning 28.500 and a running total of 87.600. The Pyramid Heat 3 group of Rayla Buckner, Tehya Purifoy, Olivia Phillip, Janae Harris, and Lauren Perkins gave an amazing performance, finishing with a 9.600.
 
The Lady Bears held a strong lead at halftime, posting an 87.600 to the Lady Cougars' 75.900.
In the Tumbling event, the Lady Bears continued to showcase their depth and precision, extending their advantage with an impressive event total of 50.825.
 
The Lady Bears closed out the meet with a dominant overall score of 239.225, securing the win over Caldwell University.
 
"We are trying to keep the momentum going as we face tougher schools the rest of the season," stated Morgan State head coach Agina Simpkison.
 
Morgan State returns to the mat on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 6 p.m., when they take on hometown opponent Stevenson University at Hill Field House.
