BALTIMORE, Md. (Oct. 5, 2026) -- Morgan State quarterback Cameron Edge continued his remarkable rise Monday, earning MEAC Offensive Player of the Week honors following his record-setting performance in the Bears' thrilling 38-35 victory over Villanova.
Edge, who previously earned the conference's Offensive Player of the Week award on Sept. 21 following Morgan State's victory over Towson, was joined among this week's MEAC honorees by teammates Evan Cooke, who was selected as Offensive Lineman of the Week, and Alex Amaya, who earned Specialist of the Week honors.
The three awards cap a memorable week for Morgan State following its road victory over No. 25 Villanova, marking the Bears' third consecutive win and moving the team to 4-1, its best start since 2009.
Edge was spectacular against the Wildcats, completing 31-of-40 passes for 444 yards and three touchdowns while adding two rushing touchdowns. With the game tied late in the fourth quarter, Edge engineered the game-winning drive and scored on a 2-yard touchdown run with 36 seconds remaining to put the Bears ahead for good.
His 444 passing yards rank third all-time in Morgan State history, trailing only LeJominick Washington's school-record 515 yards in 2001 and Orlando Persell's 484 yards in 1992.
The performance further elevated Edge's growing national profile. Just days after the Villanova victory, he was named the BOXTOROW National Player of the Week and Stats Perform FCS National Offensive Player of the Week, adding to his rapidly expanding list of individual accolades.
Cooke was instrumental in Morgan State's offensive success, helping the Bears generate 521 total yards, including 444 through the air. The junior offensive lineman and member of Morgan's "Trench Mob🏴☠️" earned the team's highest grade at 92 percent while leading the Bears with seven knockdowns.
Amaya delivered a strong all-around performance on special teams. He averaged 36.5 yards on four punts, including a long of 41 yards, while connecting on a season-high 39-yard field goal and converting all five of his PAT attempts.
The three MEAC weekly honors are the latest recognition for a Morgan State team that has emerged as one of the conference's top programs through the first five games of the season.
The Bears return to action Saturday, Oct. 10, riding a three-game winning streak when they host Robert Morris for Homecoming at Hughes Stadium. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m.
