Morgan State Cross Country Ready to Run at Richmond Invitational

BALTIMORE, Md. (Oct. 1, 2026) — The Morgan State men's and women's cross country teams will return to action Friday, Oct. 2, when they travel to Mechanicsville, Virginia, to compete in the Richmond Invitational, hosted by the University of Richmond at Pole Green Park.

The Bears are coming off strong performances at the UMES Soaring Hawks Invitational, where both squads finished among the top three teams.

On the women's side, the Lady Bears captured the team title with 29 points, finishing ahead of runner-up Coppin State, which scored 48 points.

Senior Crystal Coke led the way for Morgan, crossing the finish line first with a time of 21:24.86, averaging 4:20.2 per mile. She finished just ahead of freshman Rhian Jeffries, who placed second in 21:40.94.

The Lady Bears had three additional runners post top-10 finishes. Sophomore Kennedi Green clocked 23:33.53 to finish seventh, followed by sophomore Aiana Showell in ninth at 24:04.43 and sophomore Jahniya Barclay in 10th at 24:37.99.

The Morgan State men's team placed second with 53 points, trailing Coppin State, which captured the team title with 29 points.

Sophomore Natnael Gebremariam led the Bears, finishing sixth overall in the 8K with a time of 29:31.43, averaging 3:41.5 per mile.

Sophomore Miguel Graham was the next Morgan runner across the finish line, placing eighth in 30:14.34. Noel Cyrus Jr. followed closely behind, finishing ninth in 30:20.83.

The Bears will look to build on their performances at UMES and continue their progress when they compete in the Richmond Invitational on Friday.
