BALTIMORE, Md. (July 23, 2025) – On Tuesday, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) hosted its annual Football Media Day with a fresh twist—relocating the event from its usual home in Norfolk, Virginia, to Baltimore's iconic M&T Bank Stadium. The venue change infused the day with renewed energy and hometown pride, offering local fans and media a rare opportunity to experience the excitement of the conference's preseason buzz.
Choosing Baltimore as the site for this year's MEAC Football Media Day added a fresh dimension to the event. Head coaches, standout players, and conference officials convened at M&T Bank Stadium — home of the NFL's Baltimore Ravens — to discuss the upcoming season, share insights, and interact with the media. This backdrop not only allowed Baltimore to showcase its capabilities as a premier host city but also delivered the energy of MEAC football directly to the community's doorstep.
Representing Morgan State University at the recent media event, a strong trio consisting of head coach Damon Wilson, redshirt senior linebacker Erick Hunter, and senior center Daniel Casillas shared insightful perspectives on the Bears' preparations. Their discussions thoroughly covered the team's mindset, leadership, and expectations, highlighting a shared goal to elevate Morgan State's program and achieve notable success heading into the highly anticipated 2025 season.
Veteran linebacker Erick Hunter returns stronger than ever and is ready to lead the charge this season.
"I'm feeling great and really enjoying the experience," Hunter said. "It's been amazing — especially having it right here in our own backyard."
Casillas strongly echoed Hunter's sentiment of local pride.
"The past few days have been really good," said Casillas. "Spending time here in Charm City, but more importantly, to represent everything that Morgan is all about, right here at home."
Beyond their enthusiasm, the Bears' overarching theme for the season is leadership.
Hunter underscored the importance of being exemplary figures.
"We're really focused on setting the standard," said Hunter. "It's about being the example for the younger guys coming in — because at the end of the day, they're looking up to us," he added, emphasizing the responsibility veteran players have in shaping the team's future.
Hunter is clearly not one to shy away from setting ambitious targets as he prepares for the upcoming season.
"I want to be the FCS Player of the Year. That's the biggest individual goal you can achieve at this level. That's what I'm working toward."
Casillas, too, has his eyes set on the prize.
"I want to help my team make it to Atlanta in December," he said, referencing the prestigious Cricket Celebration Bowl, the annual HBCU National Championship game.
As summer training camp looms, Coach Wilson recently articulated his expectations for the team, emphasizing two non-negotiable pillars for success: "Consistency and finishing."
"Anything we start, we're going to make sure we finish and be consistent every step of the way."
Morgan State opens its 2025 season on August 30 with a road matchup against the University of South Alabama. Fueled by high expectations and veteran leadership, the Bears are focused on a season defined by growth, resilience, and a clear mission — earning a spot in the Celebration Bowl in Atlanta.
