Dexter Carr Jr. Making Moves in Japan’s X League

Carr Jr. Enters Third Season in Japan with Obic Seagulls

BALTIMORE, Md. (May 5, 2026) – Former Morgan State offensive lineman Dexter Carr Jr. enters his third season competing professionally in Japan, continuing a steady rise in his international football career with the Obic Seagulls of the X League.

Carr originally signed with the Obic Seagulls in 2024, beginning his overseas journey with one of Japan's most respected and successful American football organizations, based in Narashino, Chiba Prefecture. Known for their championship tradition and strong developmental culture, the Seagulls have allowed Carr to compete at an elite level while growing his professional presence on the international stage.

During his collegiate career at Morgan State (2019–2023), Carr established himself as a reliable and physical presence on the offensive line. He played a key role in anchoring the Bears' front five, helping power an offense that averaged 22.7 points per game over an 11-game stretch in the 2022 season—Morgan State's highest offensive output since 2017. His consistency, toughness, and leadership were foundational to the unit's progress during his tenure.

Carr's impact extended well beyond the field. He earned Academic All-MEAC honors and was selected to the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society in 2023, recognizing his success as a student-athlete who excelled both academically and athletically. He went on to complete his Master of Business Administration, further strengthening his preparation for life after football.

"Grateful to have earned my MBA," Carr said. "It's been a blessing to be able to earn both an undergraduate and graduate degree from Morgan State University. Morgan will always be home. Ready to close this chapter and step boldly into the next."

A native of Stafford, Virginia, Carr's football foundation was built at Colonial Forge High School, where he was a four-year varsity letterman and senior team captain. He earned multiple honors during his prep career, including two-time Second Team All-Commonwealth District and All-Region selections, along with Offensive Line MVP recognition in consecutive seasons.

Now entering his third professional season in Japan, Carr continues to build on his experience abroad while representing Morgan State on an international stage. His journey reflects persistence, discipline, and growth—traits that have carried him from Baltimore to the global football landscape.

As his professional career progresses overseas, Dexter Carr Jr. stands as an example of how academic achievement and athletic dedication can create opportunities far beyond traditional pathways—proving that success can be built anywhere in the world.
