BALTIMORE, Md. (April 4, 2025) – The Morgan State Acrobatics & Tumbling team delivered a dominant performance on Friday evening, securing their first home win of the season with an impressive 236.400–166.800 victory over Stevenson University in a National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) meet.
The Bears set the tone early, opening strong in the Compulsory event with a 34.850 score. They kept their momentum rolling in the Acro event, highlighted by a standout 9.150 in Heat 3, contributing to a 24.900 event total.
In the Pyramid event, Morgan continued to pull away, earning a 27.700, while Stevenson posted a 25.150. At halftime, the Bears held a comfortable lead at 87.450 to the Mustangs' 67.150.
Returning from the break, Morgan impressed again in the Toss event, with tops Niani Anderson and Makaya Stubbs playing a key role. Alongside bases Lauren Perkins, Janae Harris, Lailah Jewell, Aubree Johnson, and Leyna Vickers, the Bears earned an 8.750 to bring their score to 112.900.
The Tumbling event was another showcase for Morgan's talent, with Marissa Jett shining in Heat 6 with a 9.325, and Kayla Bryant earning a strong 9.075. The Bears scored 50.650 in the event, bringing their meet total to 163.550.
Stevenson closed the tumbling portion with 30.800, making it 119.600 heading into the Team Routine, where Morgan sealed the deal. The Bears scored a meet-high 72.850 in the final event, finishing with a commanding 236.400 overall. Stevenson concluded with a 47.200 in Team Routine for a final score of 166.800.
This marks Morgan's first home victory of the 2025 season.
The Bears return to action for their season finale on April 10, 2025, when they host Missouri State University at 6 p.m. in Hill Field House.
