Bears Launch Outdoor Campaign at Seahawk Invitational

WILMINGTON, N.C. (March 8, 2025) -- The Morgan State men's track and field team launched their outdoor season with a trip to Wilmington, North Carolina, for the two-day UNCW Seahawk Invitational. Hosted by UNC Wilmington at the Harold Greene Track and Field Complex, the meet provided an early opportunity for the Bears to test their mettle against regional competition. While the team aimed for a strong start, the weekend ultimately saw them secure four top-five finishes

The field events witnessed a standout performance from junior Zackery Dillon, who carried his momentum from a recent bronze medal win in the shot put at the MEAC Indoor Championships. Dillon dominating both the shot put and discus competitions. His impressive throw of 16.96 meters in the shot put was more than enough to secure him the gold medal. Dillon extended his dominance to the discus, where he unleashed a toss of 44.51 meters, capturing another gold and cementing his status as a force to be reckoned with for outdoor season.

Freshman KeSean-Jordan Rhooms delivered a solid outing in the high jump competition, clearing a height of 2.01 meters.

On the track, sophomore Jadon Ra-Akbar secured a hard-fought third-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles, clocking in a time of 14.60 seconds.
