RALEIGH, N.C. (March 24, 2025)--Morgan State's run in the 2025 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women's Bowling Championship came to an end on Saturday on Day 2 of competition at Buffaloe Lanes North.
The third-seeded Lady Bears entered Saturday's consolation bracket taking on the University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB), the fourth-seed. The Blazers would defeat Morgan State, 2-0 (857-845 Traditional and 820-799 Baker) to eliminate Morgan State from the championship. Â
Morgan State began the tournament going 1-1 on Friday's opening day. No. 3 Morgan State defeated No. 6 Howard in its first contest 2-1. The Lady Bears won the traditional format by 130 pins, defeating the Bison, 895-765.
Ayanna Carroll would lead the way with 202 pins.

Howard bounced back and won the Baker format, 856-810 to tie the match score at 1-1. In the best of seven baker format tiebreaker, Morgan State came out strong winning four consecutive games (201-142, 198-179, 174-134, 185-124) to advance in the winner's bracket.

In the afternoon session, the Lady Bears went up against defending 2024 MEAC Champion, Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES), the No. 2 seed.

The Lady Bears got out to the early lead, claiming the traditional round with an 872-854 victory over the Hawks. However, UMES responded to win the baker round, 860-782.

In the tiebreaker round, UMES and Morgan State traded victories, as the Hawks won the first game 181-172 and Morgan State won the second, 221-146. From there UMES would win the next three games (184-163, 216-214, 191-180) to win 4-1 and take the match 2-1 and send the Lady Bears into the consolation bracket where they would face UAB.
