BALTIMORE, Md. (March 18, 2025) --Â The Morgan State Acrobatics & Tumbling team is heading into its final away meet of the 2025 season, set to face Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina. The Bears are eager to close out their road schedule with a strong performance and gain momentum heading into the final stretch of the season.
Last week, Morgan faced a tough battle against Presbyterian University but fell short with a final score of 237.045 to 221.985. Despite the loss, the Bears had bright moments throughout the competition, particularly in the Compulsory Event, where they set the tone early with an impressive 34.85 compared to Presbyterian's 31.45. The Acro Event was a tight contest, with the Bears narrowly edging out their opponent 23.70 to 23.60, demonstrating their ability to execute under pressure.
As they prepare to take on Francis Marion, the Bears are determined to turn their hard work into results. Head coach Regina Smith emphasized the importance of focus and preparation heading into the meet.
"We have the skills. It doesn't matter how talented you are—you have to have the drive and desire," said Smith.
"We know we should be winning, and it's frustrating to keep falling short when we're capable of more. It all comes down to putting in the work before the meet and showing up fully prepared."
Their opponent, Francis Marion, is in its second season as an Acrobatics & Tumbling program and is still searching for its first win of the season, currently sitting at 0-6. The Division II Patriots are led by head coach Brittany Rueb, who is also in her second year at the helm of the program.
With both teams hungry for a win, this matchup presents an opportunity for Morgan State to bounce back and close out its road schedule on a high note. The Bears will look to capitalize on their strengths and execute with precision as they aim to leave Florence with a victory.
