BALTIMORE, Md. (Feb. 19, 2025) — On Saturday, February 22nd, Yulman Stadium, the home of Tulane University, will once again host the highly anticipated 2025 Allstate HBCU Legacy Bowl. This year marks the 4th annual iteration of the event, which brings together top NFL draft-eligible football players from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) for a week of practices, scouting opportunities, and cultural celebrations culminating in the game itself.
The HBCU Legacy Bowl, initially announced on March 18th, 2021, held its inaugural game on February 19th, 2022, quickly establishing itself as a vital platform for showcasing the talent and rich tradition of HBCU football to a national audience. The game will be broadcast live on NFL Network at 4 p.m. EST.
The HBCU All-Star Game, a relatively new but rapidly rising showcase, shines a spotlight on the exceptional talent pool within Historically Black Colleges and Universities. This invite-only event gathers approximately 100 of the nation's top draft-eligible players from 33 HBCUs, providing a crucial platform for increased visibility and professional opportunities. Demonstrating the depth of talent across the landscape, all six schools in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) are represented, contributing to a total of 17 players from the conference participating in this prestigious game.
South Carolina State led the MEAC in invitees with 6 while our Morgan State Bears were 3rd in the conference with three invitees, Defensive End Nana Asante, Defensive Tackle Elijah Williams, and Defensive Back Carlvainsky Decius.
South Carolina State dominated the MEAC in terms of Legacy Bowl invitees, boasting an impressive six players selected to participate in the prestigious event. Following closely behind, the Morgan State secured three invites.
Morgan's defense will be will be front and center at the Legacy Bowl, showcased by a trio of talented players. Leading the charge is Elijah Williams, the reigning MEAC Defensive Player of the Year, whose consistent performance and disruptive presence have made him a force to be reckoned with. He'll be joined by Carlvainsky Decius, an All-MEAC First-Team defensive back known for his exceptional coverage skills and penchant for intercepting the ball.
Completing the Morgan defensive representation is defensive end Nana Asante, whose disruptive pass-rushing abilities will be a key asset. These selections not only highlight the strong defensive foundation being cultivated at Morgan State but also provide Williams, Decius, and Asante with an invaluable platform to impress NFL scouts and elevate their professional aspirations.
Teams will be split by school conferences with Jackson State Head Coach T.C Taylor and Alabama A&M Head coach Sam Shade coaching Players from the SWAC & SIAC. They will be representing Legendary Grambling State Head coach Eddie Robinson as "Team Robinson".
On the opposite side, South Carolina State head coach Chennis Berry and Virginia Union head coach Alvin Parker leading the CIAA and MEAC as "Team Gaither" Representing Legendary Former Florida A&M Coach Jake Gaither.
Partners of the game include Allstate, the National Football League, adidas, Coca-Cola, Coors Light, the Allstate Sugar Bowl, the New Orleans Saints, 15 and the Mahomies Foundation, the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and Riddell, as well as NFL players Terron Armstead, Aaron Donald, Patrick Mahomes, Bobby Wagner and Jameis Winston.
