Erick “E40” Hunter Named to the HBCU College Football All-America Team

BALTIMORE, Md. (Dec. 5, 2025) -- Postseason honors continue to roll in for Morgan State standout Erick "E40" Hunter, whose standout season has caught the attention of coaches and scouts nationwide—firmly establishing him as one of the top defensive players in the FCS.

Hunter earned significant recognition on Wednesday with his selection to the prestigious BOXTOROW 2025 HBCU All-America Team, an honor that highlights his exceptional play and major contributions throughout the season.

A former BOXTOROW Impact Player of the Year (2023), Hunter has garnered a wave of attention in recent weeks. He has been named to the All-MEAC First Team, selected as a Buck Buchanan Award finalist, and, most recently, accepted an invitation to compete in The American Bowl, the inaugural college all-star game airing on the NFL Network on January 22, 2026.

A native of Capitol Heights, Md., Hunter entered the year as the MEAC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year — and fully lived up to that billing. Over 12 starts, he led the conference with 102 tackles (53 solo), racked up 14 tackles for loss, and added 4 sacks. On top of that, he recorded five quarterback hurries, forced four fumbles, snagged an interception, and delivered one of the season's signature moments with a 90-yard blocked-kick return for a touchdown against Norfolk State.

Hunter also etched his name into the annals of college football history, cementing his legacy in Baltimore, finishing ranked No. 2 on Morgan State's all-time tackles list with 298 stops — a testament to his consistency, leadership, and enduring impact on the Bears' defense.

BOXTOROW has named the All-America team since 2007, based on voting by media who cover HBCU football.

In total, 17 programs are represented of the 30 selections.
