Three Bears Named to the MEAC Football Weekly Awards

BALTIMORE, Md. (Oct. 6, 2025) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announced its weekly honors on Monday, with three Morgan State University football players recognized for standout performances.

Redshirt senior linebacker Erick Hunter was named MEAC Defensive Player of the Week, freshman wide receiver Justin Perry earned Rookie of the Week, and freshman defensive lineman Rasheen Duncan collected Specialist of the Week honors. The trio's recognition brings Morgan State's season total to 10 MEAC weekly awards.

Hunter anchored the Bears' defense with a game-high 11 tackles, including one for a loss, in the matchup against Georgetown. The performance marked his second 11-tackle outing of the season. With 247 career tackles, Hunter now ranks fourth on Morgan State's all-time list, surpassing Damare Whitaker (244; 2014–18).

Perry turned in a breakout performance on offense, pacing all receivers with 127 yards on five catches, highlighted by his first career touchdown grab. The 6-foot freshman now leads the Bears with 175 yards on eight receptions, averaging 21.9 yards per catch.

On special teams, Duncan made a major impact by blocking two field goal attempts — a 39-yarder just before halftime and a 44-yard try late in the fourth quarter that denied a potential game-tying score. His two blocked kicks tie him for the national lead in the FCS this season. Defensively, the freshman has also contributed seven tackles, including two for loss and 1.5 sacks.

Morgan State (2–4) shifts its focus to Homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 11, when the Bears welcome Virginia Lynchburg to Hughes Stadium for a 1 p.m. kickoff. The matchup will serve as Morgan's final non-conference test before beginning MEAC play.
