Morgan State Signs 29 During National Signing Day

BALTIMORE, Md. (Feb. 5, 2025) — Morgan State University head coach Damon Wilson has kicked off an exciting new chapter for Bear football by announcing the successful signing of 29 promising student-athletes during National Signing Day.

"I'm excited about the quality student-athletes that we were able to sign midyear and today during the traditional signing period," said Wilson. "We had a senior class of over twenty players and it was extremely important to replace them with a mixture of transfers and high school student-athletes."

"I feel that the staff did a great job casting a wide net which allowed us to get our needs met," Wilson added. "I'm looking forward to seeing our players compete every day in winter workouts and during spring ball. The foundation has been laid and this class will allow us to continue to build upon the foundation."

Morgan has signed a total of 17 new players on the offensive side of the ball, including seven wide receivers, five offensive linemen, two quarterbacks, one running back, one athlete and one on special teams.

Defensively, the Bears also inked a total of 12 student-athletes, including six defensive backs, five defensive linemen, and a linebacker. The Bears also signed one special teams player.

Twelve of the 29 newcomers hail from Maryland, with two signees from Virginia. Beyond these states, the 2025 recruiting class reflects national representation, with athletes coming from a total of 12 states.

Morgan was picked to finish third (3rd) in the MEAC preseason head football coaches and sports information directors, and with a 3-2 record in league play, the Bears firmly secured their spot in third place—just as predicted.  Morgan wrapped up the 2024 season in style, finishing with a 6-6 record—marking the most wins for the program since their 7-6 season in 2014, during which they earned the title of MEAC Co-Champions.
