BOSTON, Mass. (Jan. 26, 2025)--The Morgan State women's track and field team traveled to Boston over the weekend to compete in the UMass Lowell Riverhawk Invitational held at The Track at New Balance.

Tia Jackson would capture the long jump event, with a winning leap of 19-3.50 (5.88m). Jackson's performance is currently the top mark in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference this season. Jackson would also finish tied for 12
th in the high jump with a height of 5-1.00 (1.55m).

Teammate
Keira Stewart finished fifth in the long jump with a mark of 18-3.75 (5.58m).

In all, the Lady Bears would have 10 top-15 finishes, including five top-10 performances.

Makenzie Harris placed seventh in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the line at 8.85 seconds. Hemetii Apet finished ninth in the triple jump with a jump of 36-5.50 (11.11m).

The women's 4X400 meter relay team of

Aaliyah Headley,
Lailah King and
Makenzie Harris ran a time of 4:03.98 to finish ninth.

Other performers included Makenzie Jones (7.93) and Jackson (7.94), who finished 11
th and 12
th, respectively in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash.

Brylan Carter placed 14
th in the weight throw with a mark of 49-10.50 (15.20m).
Aleah Alexander had a height of 5-1.00 (1.55m) in the high jump to place 15
th.

The Lady Bears will next travel to State College, Pa., to compete in the Sykes & Sabock Challenge, hosted by Penn State (Jan. 31-Feb. 1).
