MANHATTAN, N.Y. (Jan. 18, 2025) -- The Morgan State men's indoor track and field team kicked off the 2025 season in impressive fashion, competing at the HBCU Invitational sponsored by KPMG at the renowned Armory Track and Field Center in New York.
Morgan's athletes had several individuals delivering standout performances that not only marked personal bests but also set the stage for a promising season ahead.
The Bears recorded eight top-10 finishes, including three top-3 finishes.
How it Happened
● Freshman Caleb Mincey placed first in the 800m dash as he ran a personal best time of 1:52.25, followed closely behind by teammates Rushane Fullerton (1:56.28) and Samuel Skinner (1:56.98) who placed third and fourth place, respectively.
● Junior Dante Jackson placed third in the 500m dash with a a time 1:06.73.
● Junior Jadon Ra-Akbar placed 8th in the 60m hurdles by crossing the tape with a time of 8.50.
● Freshman Doyin Smith placed 9th in the 200m dash with a time of 21.99. Dante Jackson clocked in with a time of 22.26 to place 17th.
● The 4x400 meter relay team of Antonio Sims, Samuel Skinner, Maxim Copeland, Vincent Washington finished 13th in the event with a time of 3:31.28.
● Ashton Dais secured eighth place in the pole jump with a height of 3.20 meters.
● Freshman Demond Smith finished eighth place in the weight throw with a distance of 12.84 meters and placed tenth in the shot put with a mark of 12.57m.
