Three Bears Earn NFF Hampshire Honor Society Honors

Carson Baker, Treyvon Branch, and Noah Washington are 2024 NFF Hampshire Honor Society selections.

BALTIMORE, Md. (April 11, 2024) — Three Morgan State football student athletes - quarterback Carson Baker, offensive lineman Treyvon Branch, and defensive lineman Noah Washington — were named to the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society, announced Wednesday by the NFF & College Hall of Fame.  Additional information can be found at this link.

Nominated by their respective schools, members of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society must be either a senior player, who will graduate this spring/summer, and just completed his final year of playing eligibility in 2023; or a graduated player, who has been out of high school for at least (3) years; and must have: maintained a minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.2 (4.0 scale); and been starters or contributors throughout the 2023 season.

Baker, Branch, and Washington were three of a record-number of 1,991 football players from 340 schools that qualified for membership for the 2024 NFF Hampshire Honor Society group, setting a new record for the number of members in a single year during the program's 18-year history. The initiative has now honored 18,389 student-athletes since its inception.

2024 NFF Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of the NCAA, NAIA and sprint football.

A 6-foot-3, 205 quarterback from San Diego, Calif., Baker saw action in 5 games in 2023, before being sidelined due to injury.  He completed 21-of-45 passes (47 %) for 228 yards. He had a QB rating of 84.78. In one of his best performances of the season he completed 9-of-19 passes for a season-high 116 yards vs. Norfolk State (Oct. 28). Baker is currently pursuing his MBA.

A 6-foot-3, 290 offensive lineman from White Plains, N.Y., Branch was a Phil Steele Preseason All-MEAC honoree. Branch was a standout starting right tackle on a Bears' offensive line that helped roll up almost 3,000 yards of offense last season, including almost 1,500 yards on the ground. He was a part of an offensive line that allowed just 26 sacks all season long in 2023. Branch is pursuing a degree in Accounting.

A 6-foot-5, 275-pound defensive tackle from New Haven, Conn., Washington stood out as a dominant force on the field. The talented edge rusher from New Haven, Connecticut quickly made a name for himself in the conference as he registered 35 total tackles (19 solo) with two sacks for the year, including a team-high three fumble recoveries with three pass breakups. Williams put forth his best performance in the season finale against Howard, recording a season-high seven tackles and a sack.  He played in the Allstate HBCU Legacy Bowl, presented by the Black College Football Hall of Fame is a postseason all-star game that showcased the top 100 NFL draft-eligible football players from Historically Black Colleges and Universities  Washington is currently pursuing a Masters in Sociology.
