Bears Announce 2024 Spring Football Practice Schedule

BALTIMORE, Md. (March 20, 2024) — The Morgan State University football team will begin its spring practice schedule, Tuesday, March 26, the first of 15 practice dates that conclude April 21st with the annual Blue and Orange Game at Hughes Stadium.

This year marks the third year under Morgan head coach Damon Wilson and the team's second spring season under his guidance. The Bears return 79 lettermen from last season's squad, including nine starters on offense, eight on the defense and three on special teams. Among those returners are running back J.J. Davis, who led the team in rushing, and All-MEAC linebacker Erick Hunter who led the team in tackles.

One of the most highly anticipated battles on the field will be at the quarterback position. With several key positions to fill, the competition for the starting quarterback role will undoubtedly be intense.

In addition to their returning players, the team is excited to welcome a group of talented transfers who will be joining them for spring practice. These transfers include wide receiver Marquez Phillips, offensive lineman Uriel Rodriguez-Campos, linebacker Ahmad McCullough, defensive back Jadon Carter, and quarterback Lohgan Muasau.

The Bears are gearing up for an exciting spring season as they begin practice on Tuesday, March 26. With a rigorous schedule ahead, the team will be practicing every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday at Hughes Stadium. The Blue and Orange Game will be played Sunday, April 21 at Hughes Stadium. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m.

All times and dates are tentative and can change due to weather. Practices are open to the public.

Morgan was picked to finish fourth (4th) in the MEAC preseason head football coaches and sports information directors, but instead finished in a 2-way tie for second place with a 3-2 mark in league play.  Morgan concluded the 2023 season with 4-6 record.
