BALTIMORE, Md. (October 12, 2024) — Morgan State senior men's cross country runner Perry Bennett led the Bears Saturday morning at the NJIT Highlander Challenge in Newark, New Jersey..
Bennett placed 25th with a time of 26:54.3 on the 8k course. Caldwell's Tilak Datta placed first overall by crossing the finish line in 25:00.1.Â
Army West Point captured first place with a team score of 34 points among a competitive field of 31 teams. Following closely behind, Wilmington-DE secured second place with a score of 145 points, while Caldwell rounded out the top three with 151 points. Meanwhile, Morgan had a commendable effort by finishing in eighth place with a total score of 242 points.

Morgan's Caleb Mincey achieved a commendable 34th place finish, clocking in at a personal best time of 27:11.6, while teammate Davian Gray secured 43rd place with a time of 27:47.8. .
Samuel Skinner and Rushshane Fullerton crossed the finish line with  personal bests. Skinner, with an impressive time of 28:49.0, and Fullerton posted a time of 29:37.1.
Morgan returns to action on Saturday, October 19Â at the Aubrey Shenk Invitational in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.Â
