Six Bears Named to 2023 Preseason All-MEAC Teams

NORFOLK, Va. (July 21, 2023) — Six (6) Morgan State football players were named today to the 2023 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's (MEAC) preseason team, which was voted on by the conference head coaches and sports information directors. The announcement was made in front of a live audience during the MEAC Football Media Show live on ESPN+ at the Hilton Norfolk The Main.

Senior linebacker Lawrence Richardson, senior defensive back Jae'Veyon Morton,  junior defensive lineman Elijah Williams, and sophomore return specialist Keith Jenkins Jr. were first-team selections.

Senior offensive lineman Marvin Atuatasi and junior linebacker Erick Hunter were second-team picks.

The Bears, under the direction of second-year head coach Damon Wilson are predicted to finish fourth in the MEAC standings, according to the poll of the conference head coaches and sports information directors.

North Carolina Central quarterback Davius Richard was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, while Eagles defensive back Khalil Baker was selected as Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. 

North Carolina Central University has been picked to defend its MEAC Football Championship as the Eagles topped the league's annual preseason poll for 2023.

The 2023 MEAC football season will kick off on Saturday, Aug. 26, with the annual Cricket MEAC/SWAC Challenge, pitting South Carolina State against Jackson State at Center Parc Stadium in Atlanta, Ga. The game will broadcast live on ABC for the first time.
