Baltimore, Md. (April 24, 2023)--Head coach
Regina Smith Inaugural Coach of acrobatics & tumbling team, announced her 2023-24 inaugural signing class, Monday, April 17, 2023.
There were 19 student-athletes who signed National Letters of Intent to join the Bears' team for the 2023-24 season as incoming freshmen, and nine current Morgan State University students from the Class of 2024, 2025, and 2026.
"These women are more than a typical signing class. This is your inaugural Bears for Acrobatics and Tumbling," said Smith. "These athletes are making history in so many ways. They are representing the first Morgan State University Acrobatics and Tumbling team, the first HBCU Division I team, and the First NCATA all minority roster. We are thrilled to have this group of Bears be the inaugural team."
"I was very intentional on the type of student athlete I wanted to represent this inaugural season," added Smith. "All students carried a 3.0 GPA upon completion of high school graduation. Not only is this team very talented, but they are also very intelligent. This class is very diverse in skill sets, but overall well rounded, and will be a force to be reckoned with, and I would not have it any other way. Morgan State University Community, meet your fellow A&T Bears."
Representing the inaugural 2023-24 Morgan State Acrobatic & Tumbling team are: Niani Anderson, Jonyce Bland, Kayla Bryant, Amaya Burns, Riley Davidson, Ga'Moni Gaskins, Taylor Gorham, Taylor Green, Janae Harris, Olivia Phillip, Tehya Purifoy, Brianna Richardson, Jordyn Sanders, Mia Taylor, Elena Waller, Janiyah Young, Rayla Buckner, Mariyah Wiggins, Leyna Vickers, Alahni Napier, Kelis Rhyne, Ayona Young, Nia Rae Lewis, Lavell Isom, Jordan Skillern, Makaya Stubbs, Kalea Armstrong and Indirah Mitter.
